((ooc update post))

((Um, so yeah. I’m sorry I disappeared. It’s a week until opening and we just got off book yesterday so I’m a bit stressed. I have the prophecy para open and everytime I go to work on my reply I’m like, “Into the woods, into the woods, into the woods”.

I should be back in full regalia once the show closes. Which is Feb 18th, I think. I’ll try to get on more at least though.

Have a kitten as penance

Percy takes the nearest seat he can find, still trying to calm his breathing a bit. He fixes Annabeth with a level gaze, though soon he finds himself glancing between the two of them; suddenly he feels a bit unnecessary.

“Apollo mentioned water. He said…” The teen is aware that he’s interrupted and he can feel both sets of eyes on him but he’s keeping his eyes fixed on the green felt of the pool table. “He said that his connection with Rachel was weak, and that if it were just that she was in the Underworld he’d be able to feel her, but since he can’t there has to be something else and that it was probably water.”

It suddenly dawns on Annabeth that she doesn’t know the answers; that she hadn’t even taken time to think about the quest. She had her speculations about Rachel’s whereabouts, but those were drawn before hearing the prophecy. Now, she was unsure where her estimate would be.

Luckily, Percy speaks up before she’s able to answer the question. “Water?” Annabeth asks, her eyebrows drawing together. “If it was water, wouldn’t you be able to sense her?” She wasn’t exactly sure the extent to which his powers went, what with him now being able to create earth quakes, talk to horses, ect.

“Apollo,” Annabeth breathes, “Secret.” She pauses long enough to gather her thoughts. “If Apollo is the god involved, then the line ‘a god’s secret shall delay but not stop on the way’ has to apply to him, right? What if he has an idea where Rachel is but he isn’t telling us?”

Nico didn’t really want to believe that Apollo would purposefully hinder attempts to get his oracle, but knowing what gods had done in the past, he wouldn’t put it past Apollo.

“Or maybe his secret is something he doesn’t think is needed to save Rachel? Something he doesn’t think that demigods need to know.” He was sure that gods didn’t share everything about their lives with their children, absolutely positive about that.

“Is there somewhere in the realm of water that you can’t sense, Percy?”

Percy’s usually late to things and important things are no exception to that rule.

Part of his tardiness is due to the fact that when he gets the message that they’re meeting, he’s in the middle of giving an Apollo kid a one-on-one sword fighting lesson.

Once he’s done, he has to make it through the crowd of people who swarm the Arena to try and convince him to give them one-on-one lessons (he kindly refers them all to Luke), and finally he has to trek all the way across camp to get there.

He arrives, panting from the run, sweaty, and covered in dirt and blood. Some his own, some the Apollo kid’s.

“Sorry guys, wow. I thought,” The teen sucks in a breath to try and calm himself, “I thought that lesson was going to go way faster.”

Annabeth was relieved when the boys showed up fairly quickly, despite the small scare that Nico’s just popping in gave her. Her mouth was upturned in a smile as she addressed the both of them. “Hey, Nico,” she says. She turns to Percy, her smile fading slightly. Why was it that this boy always ended up covered in something, whether it be monster dust or blood.

“Er, hi,” she says, her smile slightly returning. “Are you alright?”

She leans forward on the ping pong table, folding her hands. She turns her attention to Nico. “Lead away, Quest leader.” She’s happy, really happy, to be back on a team once more without calling the shots. Sure, she was somewhat of a control freak when it came to how things were done, but to say her quest went without flaws would be a complete lie.

Nico looks at Percy when the older boy enters, clothes filthy as usual. Dirty clothes are pretty much a given at camp, especially when training and actually working.

Then he clears his throat and starts to speak. “So, Percy and I were thinking that the best thing to do would be to try and find Rachel. Maybe that’s what the quest is to do, or at least the first part. Maybe she’s somewhere connected to the Underworld. Do you have any thoughts, Annabeth?” He is surprised at the smoothness of his voice, how it doesn’t sound quite like the scared child he is at the moment. He finds this discovery to be reassuring. Apparently he can fit into the role of leader well.
